LGBTQ+ Issues
Do you identify as gay, transgender, or find yourself somewhere on the queer spectrum? Often times social stigma, family expectations, and religious policies can have a negative impact on your mental health. People that identify as LGBTQ+ commonly struggle with feelings of anxiety, depression, and suicidality related to their experiences. It can be helpful to work with a therapist who is trained in helping you work through issues related to gender and sexual identity.
I have a special place in my heart for LGBTQ+ Mormons and their families. Having a conservative religious background with defined gender roles and clear expectations about the ideal family setup can make an already difficult experience heart-wrenching. It is normal to feel grief and loss over unmet cultural expectations, even when making decisions that are affirmative of a lifestyle that is synchronous with your sexual identity and are in the best interest of your mental health and happiness.
If you think that you or your family would benefit from working with an LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist like me, book your first appointment below or contact me for more information.
