Kelly provides counseling and therapy services in person and offers online services to clients in Broward and Palm Beach Counties in FloridaHi! I’m Kelly.  I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) serving clients via telehealth in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Utah and Arizona.

I have a master’s degree in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, which is a small private school located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  When I worked as a student therapist in south Florida, and later as a provisionally licensed therapist in Yuma, Arizona (a small town on the border with Mexico), I worked with families from many different backgrounds.

Experience with different ethnic, socio-economic, religious, and cultural groups means that I have an awareness that while some parts of your circumstances are common to the human experience, other parts of your story are unique to you and deserve the listening ear of a therapist trained to ask the right questions to help you discover the solutions that will work best for you.

While working in my teletherapy private practice part-time, I am also a part-time doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Counseling Education and Supervision where I am increasing my knowledge and expertise as a counselor and also preparing to supervise and teach other counselors-in-training.

My bachelor’s degree is from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where I studied special education and psychology teaching.  All of my education has prepared me to work together with you to meet your individual goals and the needs of your family.

Check out my Services page to explore the types of services I offer and learn more about some of my areas of expertise.

My approaches to individual therapy include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  In couples counseling, I rely heavily on the work of John Gottman.  As a family therapist, I am always thinking relationally and approaching problems systemically, and I frequently integrate other research-based therapies and techniques as appropriate.

On a more personal note, I grew up in south-central Pennsylvania in the Lancaster and Mechanicsburg areas. I did my undergraduate work at Penn State and Brigham Young University, and was a pole vaulter and hurdler on the track teams at both universities.  I’m married to a great guy and we have three cute kids.  I currently live in Richmond, Virginia.

We spent many happy years moving around the country and we have spent 3 or more years living in each of the following places: Provo, UT; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA,; Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Yuma, AZ.  If given a free hour to myself, you will most likely find me with my nose in a book or out for a run.
