This month I am recommending Dr. Lisa Damour’s first book, Untangled: Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood

I have a hard time endorsing most parenting books with 100% enthusiasm, but this one is really solid.  I think anyone with a pre-teen or teenage daughter could benefit from reading this book.

Lisa Damour is a psychologist who has spent her career working with teenage girls and her expertise and practical wisdom shine in this book.  She addresses hard subjects clearly and concisely and leaves the reader feeling better equipped to help their own teenage girls.

She is great at helping parent-readers understand with more clarity the struggles their girls are going through.  She does an equally good job empathizing with parents about how hard it can be to raise and interact productively with their teen and pre-teen daughters.

Give this one a try, and if you like it, check out my post about her other book, Under Pressure: Confronting the Epidemic of Stress and Anxiety in Girls here.
